Following a steady increase in antisemitism and hate speech at Higgins Middle School, Superintendent Dr. Josh Vadala announced that there would be grade-by-grade assemblies last Friday, led by Lappin Foundation President and Executive Director Debbie Coltin.

Queer people and many allies of the LGBTQ+ community joined together outside City Hall to celebrate love, inclusion, and diversity with a ceremonial Pride flag raising to acknowledge June as Pride Month. Mayor Ted Bettencourt kicked off the ceremony by thanking former Councilor-at-Large Tom Gould, as he was “instrumental” in creating this annual tradition 15 years ago.

A race inspired by a little boy’s love of hot dogs, sports, and the outdoors will return this fall, as the second annual Tommy Fund Hot Dog Jog is scheduled to return on Oct. 24 at Lynn Woods. The event, organized by Peabody residents Bridget and Ryan DePoy, honors their son, Tommy, who died unexpectedly on Nov. 20, 2024, shortly after his fourth birthday.
