Health At first blush, it seems basic. After a doctor writes a prescription, a patient gets it filled at a pharmacy. But the pharmacy isn’t in full control. There’s a go-between: a pharmacy benefit manager, or PBM, which negotiates prices with wholesalers, sets reimbursement rates on drugs and compiles the lists of which medicines an insurer will cover (known as formularies).

Gyros were introduced to America in Chicago during the mid ‘60s. As for dessert, the brownie is said to have been invented at the Palmer House Hotel in 1893. But more than anything else, Chicago is known for its hot dogs and its pizza. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Chicago was butcher to the world.

US Department of Justice Targets New Illinois Law Requiring Nonprofits to Post Leadership Demographics

The U.S. Department of Justice, already suing Illinois in an effort to strike down the state’s sanctuary protections for undocumented immigrants, wants to use its heft to take out another Illinois law. In January, the American Alliance for Equal Rights went to federal court alleging that Illinois is unconstitutionally forcing private entities to discriminate with its first-in-the-nation law requiring nonprofits to post online the demographics of their leadership.
