So far, over 770,000 Americans have perished from COVID-19. With the winter and the holiday season at hand and COVID-19 surging in Europe, our infection rate and deaths will undoubtedly escalate. A majority of the hospitalizations and deaths since this summer have been in the unvaccinated. Of the vaccinated people who died with breakthrough infections, many caught the virus from an unvaccinated person.
We've made choices to let the coronavirus run rampant
With a population of 3.18 million, Iowa has had over 2,000 COVID-19 deaths. The number of daily new cases has been approaching 5,000. By contrast, New Zealand, with a population of 5 million, has had a total of 25 deaths and averages a handful of new cases each day. Daily new cases in South Korea, with 51 million people, have been rising but number about 300. The United States as a whole has 331 million people, and has had over 250,000 COVID-19 deaths. It could soon exceed 200,000 new cases a day.
