The increasing frequency of extreme weather events attributed to climate change are expected to have detrimental effects on crop yields, food quality and supply chain stability.

Rapid population growth and industrialization are intensifying global waste management challenges. The volume and complexity of high-moisture wastes such as municipal and industrial sludge, agricultural residues, and hazardous by-products are increasing, causing severe environmental harm. When left untreated, these wastes contribute to soil degradation, water pollution and the spread of pathogens, heavy metals, and synthetic chemicals.

Drying technology has long been at the heart of various industrial processes, from food and pharmaceuticals to textiles and chemicals. However, its growing relevance in the clean energy sector, particularly in the manufacture of high-performance electrodes for lithium-ion and next-generation batteries, which has opened an important new frontier for research and innovation.
