What was your first job as a journalist?

I worked in middle school for a radio show called Kid Company, which won a Peabody Award. I was the international affairs correspondent.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No, but I have a vintage typewriter in my apartment.

Clark Kent?

Who do you wish followed you?

Oprah

Why did you become a journalist?

To tell stories that otherwise wouldn't be told

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was an editor for The Tripod, my high school newspaper

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

This is like picking your favorite child! Either coverage from my time in Iraq or reporting on the Secret Court of 1920.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Search out the beats that other journalists aren't interested in and the stories that your peers might be ignoring

What's your favorite drink?

My favorite would be a coffee milkshake. What am I most likely to be drinking? Diet Coke.
