Bringing his esteemed writing expertise, creative inspiration, and engaging presentation style, Colorado State University professor and author Todd Mitchell headlined the annual 2025 Blue Horizon’s Writing Workshop recently held for Morgan County middle and high school students at Morgan Community College. Thirty-three students from Brush, Fort Morgan, and Wiggins Middle and High Schools attended the day-long event, along with teacher sponsors from the districts and Blue Horizons volunteers.

Commentary: SC takes a big step toward safer, more equitable transportation

The S.C. Department of Transportation should be applauded for recently adopting a departmental directive for Complete Streets. This policy will meet the transportation needs of more South Carolinians than previously. The old DOT prioritized cars only, and this is now in the past. The new DOT recognizes that almost 20% of our highway fatalities involve people walking biking and getting to a bus stop, and those are almost exclusively on state roads.

Stop As Yield A Safe Option for Bicyclists | Bike Law

I’ve been representing cyclists in Idaho bike accidents for nearly 25 years. Many people are aware of our state statute that is referred to by many as the Idaho Stop Law. My experience, both on my bike and at my desk, has shown it’s a good law that has worked well. In fact, the law has actually reduced the number of bike-car accidents in Idaho. Under our law a cyclist can, when it’s safe to do so, treat a stop sign as a yield sign or a stop light as a stop sign.
