Amy Lieu’s Biography

Amy Lieu graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Communication Studies and minor in Asian American Studies in 2011.

Her goal is to become a successful multimedia journalist. In a converging digital world, she hopes to incorporate various types of media in her journalism work.

With a multicultural background, she speaks three dialects of Chinese: Mandarin, Cantonese and Teo-Chew (a unique Chinese dialect from the Guangdong province in China). She also speaks basic Spanish.

Possessing a strong passion for journalism, she knew ever since she was a young girl that journalism is her calling. Telling stories that can impact the world inspires her. She is especially interested in reporting on human interest stories and disadvantaged communities. She wants to bridge mainstream society with minority communities.

Amy approaches her stories with compassion and enthusiasm. Voraciously curious and motivated, she always seeks to develop herself both professionally and personally.

In her spare time, she likes to spend time with family and friends. She enjoys dancing and singing karaoke. She also loves to cook, bake and try different foods. Sushi, Korean BBQ and pasta are her favorite foods, while chocolate satisfies her sweet tooth.
