Cytoplasmic LIF and LIFR are correlated with poorer outcomes Previously we showed that elevated LIF in the tumor microenvironment enhances cancer radioresistance and is associated with poorer recurrence-free survival3. Our current findings showed the presence of LIF in nuclei of normal basal epithelia but predominant expression in the cytoplasm of tumor cells (Fig. 1a), implying diverse functional roles in normal epithelial and cancer cells.
