A campaign to establish the Hindu Society of Maidenhead's first permanent base has relaunched, more than a decade after earlier proposals were repeatedly turned down. The society is now crowdfunding for residents to be 'founding supporters' of a proposed community centre in the town centre. Since its formation in 2005, the group has worked with the council to secure various sites, but two failed planning applications have cost the group nearly £80,000.

Students at a college in Maidenhead received a visit from a royal guest last week. HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh visited Berkshire College of Agriculture last Thursday (May 18). It was one of three royal engagements on the day including a visit to Bisham Abbey Sports Centre in Marlow. During her visit, The Duchess was given a tour of the campus and she spoke to students about their plans to pursue careers in agriculture and horticulture.
