I’m writing to express my deep and profound concern about ICE’s presence and tactics in our community, our county, and across the nation. I’d also like to provide some background information (all of which is publicly accessible).

By Andra Belknap, Robin Gerber, Natalie Gray and Robert Feiss I’m writing to congratulate and thank Kimberly Rivers for her work with the Ojai Valley News. I’ve admired Kim for years, as a reader, a fellow reporter, and a friend. Kim’s reporting and omnipresence at local meetings are consistently impressive, particularly given that she’s been in law school for the past three years. Without Kim’s reporting, I’m not sure we’d understand how the county’s misuse of pesticides poisoned local trees.

“Somewhere in the weeks before, it’s going to hit me,” Brad said. “I’m performing where Miles Davis and Tchaikovsky played.” That was Ojai’s Brad Halverson quoted in the Los Angeles Times back in 2002. Halverson, then 16 years old, was preparing to perform alongside more than 100 Nordhoff High School band and choir students at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Brad tragically died of a heart attack on Aug. 27, his parents, Dr. Jim and Robyn Halverson, said.
