1 Introduction The prevalence of obesity has been steadily increasing in the United States (US), and by 2030, nearly half of American adults (47.1%) are projected to be diagnosed with obesity (body mass index [BMI] ≥ 30 kg/m2) [1]. According to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) collected from 2017 to March 2020, the age-adjusted prevalence of obesity among adults was 41.9% [2]. The prevalence of obesity has also increased among older adults.
