Shrek the Musical
Photo: Courtesy of Shrek the Musical Full on fairytale fun Shrek the Musical has arrived in South West London as part of its UK tour. I was welcomed to New Wimbledon Theatre to see the latest production of this musical about our favourite Scottish swamp-living ogre.
Sondheim on Sondheim
Andrea Richardson | 07 Jul 2023 10:47am Photo: Stephen Russell A wonderful tribute to a master It was a pleasure to return to the Bridewell Theatre with a friend to enjoy their current production of Sondheim on Sondheim. This intimate theatre space makes an ideal setting for this equally intimate look at the Father of the Modern Musical, featuring new arrangements of his work. The show was conceived by James Lapine in 2000, and has undergone many changes since its inception.

Musical about newspapers is not headline news
WARNING: This review may contain spoilers of some elements of the show. This is a pretty big catch of a show for a little known North West London theatre. Since it opened in 2019, the Troubadour had barely had a chance to get going before a certain pandemic shut it down again. It has had some shows since it re-opened but it certainly deserves maximum kudos for getting the UK premiere of this award-winning hit, 10 years since it was on Broadway.

THE KITCHEN SINK
London had just come out of a two-day mini heatwave when I was scheduled to review this production. Fortunately the searing heat had come down enough to enjoy my visit to the opening night of Beaufort Players’ latest production of Tom Wells’ play The Kitchen Sink. The Kitchen Sink is exactly that – a kitchen sink drama set in the kitchen of a family home in a Northern England seaside town. As it says in the programme, this is a play about big dreams and small changes.

Blue Stockings | Sardines
A play on Victorian attitudes that is still relevant today Blue Stockings is the 2013 debut play by Jessica Swale, which follows four strong-minded young women who decide to study at Cambridge and are determined to graduate with a degree. I was pleased to be welcomed back to Beaufort Players new production on this very important subject.
Dictating to the Estate
Andrea Richardson | 02 Jun 2022 13:25pm Powerful documentary about the Grenfell Tower fire SPOILER ALERT: In this review I will be describing the production and revealing its ending. If you wish to attend this production without prior knowledge of this please do not continue reading. I was pleased to be invited to attend the premiere of a new play titled Dictating To The Estate at Maxilla Social Club.
Romance & Riots - An Evening of Original Drama
Our stages sadly went dark for such a long time due to lockdown, so I was very pleased to be welcomed back to Beaufort Players for their first production since theatres were allowed to reopen. They wisely chose to keep their returning production simple with minimal sets and original pieces written by group members that meant costs were also kept low. So we were offered “Romance and Riots – An Evening of Original Drama”. Act 1 was “Day of the Rope” written and directed by Jane Quill.
A Timely Reminder….
Image: Jane Hobson I was delighted to make a return to the West End for the first time in many months to review this new production at Vaudeville Theatre. It was socially distanced, fully masked, with temperature checks and digital programmes – all very Covid compliant. Public Domain is described as “a dark, funny, verbatim musical about the internet: Those who own it; those who live in it; and YOU!”. The show is developed from the actual words of vloggers, influencers, Facebook and YouTube users.

Pathways through which higher neighborhood crime is longitudinally associated with greater body mass index
We found that objectively measured long-term exposure to crime is associated with higher BMI at a later point in time through two separate paths, lack of perceived safety and decreased physical activity. Unexpectedly, distress did not explain associations between objectively measured crime, lack of perceived safety and BMI, suggesting other processes could be at play along this particular path. Future work may be warranted exploring other potential pathways.
How Can You Help Mothers Of Children With Autism? -
Feeling helpless is no fun. Moms of children with Autism often feel helpless. They often feel alone because their children have difficult behaviors. Sometimes they isolate themselves because they don’t want to answer questions or feel they are the subject of a pity party. Sometimes they just don’t know where to turn. This is a common feeling for many parents who have a child diagnosed with Autism. But those looking on can feel helpless too
Pruritus since childhood
The itchy rash had been previously diagnosed as psoriasis. But treatment provided minimal relief. So what was causing the itch? The authors reported no potential conflict of interest relevant to this article. A 48-year-old woman experiencing homelessness presented to our clinic with a 4-week history of an intensely pruritic rash on her upper back and bilateral upper extremities.
