Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! A simple laboratory-scale multigram procedure for convenient access to 1,2,4-trisubstituted cubanes was developed. The precursor molecule, cubane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid trimethyl ester, is easily accessible via photolysis with oxalyl chloride. From this, several cubanes of this rarer trisubstituted system were synthesized, including their first examples containing nitro groups.
