Priests create forum for Catholic answers on Reddit

PORT ANGELES, Wash. — Reddit.com is not typically a place most people think of venturing to when they need to ask a priest a question. But through the work of several priests on the site, some people are receiving the Catholic answers they’ve been looking for on Reddit, an online discussion forum. The subreddit r/AskAPriest was created around five years ago. Father Jacob Maurer, one of its founders, said it stemmed from a need he and fellow priests who posted on r/Catholicism identified.

‘New sense of gratitude’: Student leaders from Catholic high schools spend day in service

SEATTLE — As he began Mass at St. James Cathedral in Seattle Feb. 9, Archbishop Paul D. Etienne greeted 52 high school students standing in the pews saying, “In a special way, we welcome our high school seniors from across the archdiocese who came here for a day of service.” The students, who are senior leaders at their schools often serving in student government or involved with campus ministry, came from 12 of the Catholic high schools in the archdiocese that have senior classes.
