Tree of Life rabbi retiring at the end of July

The leader of Pittsburgh's Tree of Life congregation during the 2018 mass shooting is retiring at the end of the month. Rabbi Myers announced his retirement earlier this year. He has served as rabbi and cantor at Tree of Life since 2017, including during the 2018 mass shooting that killed 11 worshipers. Myers says his final blog marks the end of a nine-year run in which he wrote more than 450 weekly posts.

Allegheny Co. director on leave following comment to Dunlap

Andrew Limberg Allegheny County Director of Communications Abigail Gardner has been placed on administrative leave after comments she made directed toward KDKA Radio's Colin Dunlap last Friday. Last Friday, on Instagram Gardner suggested that the KDKA Radio host jump off a bridge, seemingly insinuating suicide. “I made a tasteless comment out of frustration, and I apologize for my lapse in judgement,” Gardner said in a statement released by the county.

Severe weather threatens Western PA Tuesday

There is the potential for severe weather around Western Pennsylvania on Tuesday, July 21. The National Weather Service says heavy storms are possible with downed trees and wires the primary concern for forecasters. National Weather Service meteorologist Fred McMullen says there is an “enhanced risk, which is a level three out of five . . . those happen about once or twice a year for our region.” The timing of the storms is between noon and 8 p.m. with a “weak” tornado potential and heavy rain.
