Despite being the subject of a very large amount of research (a March 4, 2024 PsycInfo search on “confidence” generated 100,928 hits), we know very little about how to influence people's confidence levels. There are at least three reasons why one might want to do so. First, in certain circumstances, it could be advantageous for people to have increased or decreased confidence.
