Silent Hill Remake Could Arrive in 2027
Back in September 2025, it was officially confirmed that Bloober Team was remaking the original Silent Hill. At the time, there was no release window, but now it looks as though the game could be on track for a 2027 release. That’s according to a report from MP1st, which seems confident in saying that next year could the launch window it’s aiming for. The report goes on to say that this aligns with Konami’s intent to release new entries in the Silent Hill franchise at a more steady pace.
Silent Hill Devs Were “Kept in the Dark” To Not Influence Each Other
The studios for both Silent Hill f and Townfall were intentionally not told what the other was doing. That’s according to the recent MCM London Comic Con panel, as noted by VGC. During the panel, Townfall director and Screen Burn co-founder, Jon McKellan, said both teams were kept “in the dark” to prevent ideas crossing over.
Silent Hill: Townfall Patch Makes The Weight Less Frustrating
If you’ve been playing Silent Hill: Townfall recently and you’ve been frustrated by some of the more stealthy parts, fear not. A new update has been sent out by developer Screen Burn, which addresses some of the “in-game issues,” including the frustrating The Weight sections. In a recent patch notes post over on the Konami website, version 1.4.0 has started rolling out for all systems.
Phasmophobia ‘Crimson Eye’ Update Begins Rolling Out
Every year, Kinetic Games rolls out a special Halloween update for its hit ghost hunting title Phasmophobia. This year is, of course, no exception, as the “Crimson Eye” event has started rolling out. As always, it’s replete with new challenges and everything is bathed in an eerie glow (this time red). The update technically began on October 7, implementing some preparations, including a couple of small fixes, but now the main event is upon us.
Silent Hill 2 at 25: An Unshakable Legacy
Silent Hill 2 celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and is something we’re still talking about all these years later. It’s perhaps not an exaggeration to say that survival horror hasn’t really been the same since. In fact, the entire series has etched itself into the annals of gaming history, offering scares that are more psychological, that get under your skin.
Alien Isolation 2 is an ‘Intense Experience’ and a ‘Tough Game’
For fans of the 2014 game, it was a terrifying experience. As such, it comes as no surprise that Alien Isolation 2 could well be upping that tension, as many of us eagerly anticipate the long-awaited follow up. In a report over on TechRadar, Creative Assembly has been dangling little hints about what we can expect in the upcoming cat-and-mouse survival horror game.
Nightdive Studios May be Teasing An Eternal Darkness Remaster
Nightdive Studios has easily become the darling of the gaming world when it comes to reviving the classics. As well as remasters of Quake, Doom, Hexen, Star Wars; Dark Forces, and soon Thief: The Dark Project, it’s possible we might be getting another blast from the past. As noted by VGC, there’s a suggestion that Nightdive could be looking at a possible Eternal Darkness remaster.
Bloober’s New Game Onyx: The Dark Grip Will Be a Switch 2 Exclusive
Showing no signs of slowing down, Bloober Team is hard at work on its next horror project. Onyx: The Dark Grip is an upcoming game from the Layers of Fear and Silent Hill 2 Remake studio, bringing the developer’s well-known style to consoles. It’s also going to be a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. At this year’s Nintendo Direct, Bloober showcased an announcement trailer for Onyx.
Halloween: The Game Has Already Pulled in Half a Million Players
Fans of asymmetrical games and classic horror franchises have no doubt been anticipating Halloween: The Game. Releasing just yesterday, developer Illfonic has been keen to share how well things have been going so soon after launch. In a post on the official Steam page, Halloween had already brought in over 500,000 players within just a few hours. This was echoed over on X, with a message thanking everyone who’s stepped into the shoes of Michael Myers and/or the survivors.
Until Dawn 2 Reveals “Choice & Consequence” Trailer
Earlier this summer, Until Dawn 2 was revealed, more than ten years after the original dropped onto our collective PS4s. What made the first game interesting – aside from featuring a young Rami Malek – was its choice-based take on slasher horror. To that end, Sony has released a new trailer, which shows the return of choices in the follow-up. Titled “Choice & Consequence,” the latest teaser gives us a flavour of what to expect in Until Dawn 2.
Silent Hill Could Have “Annual Release” of New Games
With the series back in full swing, there’s a possibility that Silent Hill could have a new game coming out every year going forward. According to franchise producer Motoi Okamoto, the team remains hopeful about having “an annual release of new games.” Speaking directly to GamesRadar+ at this year’s Gamescom, Okamoto went on to say that this could provide a chance for Silent Hill to move somewhat further away from its roots.
The success of Phasmophobia is showing no signs of slowing down, it seems. Becoming one of the fastest growing indie horror games on PC – partly thanks to increased interest during the COVID-19 lockdowns – the figures for Kinetic Games’ ghost hunting sensation just keep going up. Since the developer released Phasmophobia on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in October 2024, the game’s popularity has only gone up, as a recent post from Kinetic says it’s surpassed three million in sales on console alone.
New Doom: The Dark Ages Trailer Teases More of the Story
It should absolutely come as no surprise to anyone that Doom: The Dark Ages will perpetuate that signature high-octane action we’ve come to know over the years. However, for those who actually wouldn’t mind something of a story, we’ll definitely be getting lashings of that, as evidenced in the new trailer. Maybe most of us are only in it for the thrill of pulverizing the denizens of hell, but the latest teaser does show some of the upcoming game’s more narrative side.
Bloober Debuts First Gameplay Trailer for Cronos: The New Dawn
The Silent Hill 2 remake is not even cold, yet Bloober Team is showing no signs of slowing down. A few months ago, the studio announced its new horror title Cronos: The New Dawn. If what’s been shown so far is already giving you Dead Space vibes, wait until you see the gameplay trailer that’s been doing the rounds.
This Doom Physical Copy Comes in a Box That, Yep, Runs Doom
Last year, Bethesda released the Doom + Doom 2 set, allowing you to play id Software’s classic games on modern hardware. The fact that remastering work was done by Nightdive Studios made the re-release better. But for those of you who like physical copies of legendary first-person shooters, there’s something on the horizon. The good people over at Limited Run Games is set to launch a special edition of Doom, which will come with the original games plus all the extra content.
Phasmophobia's 'Cursed Hollow' Event Drops Next Week
Perhaps one of the most celebrated indie horror games of this generation, Phasmophobia continues to draw in players, thanks to its unique ghost hunting mechanics. The team behind it is constantly tweaking it with updates a-plenty, and it’s recently been announced that the first event of 2025 will be coming soon. Across all platforms, the next update for the game will be rolling out from April 17 onwards, and will bring with it the “Cursed Hollow” event.
The Dark Ages' New Cacodemon Is Giving MAD Duke Nukem Vibes
Whether you’re excited about it or not, Doom: The Dark Ages is going to be a pretty big deal. Both the 2016 reboot and 2020’s Eternal have more than proved that id Software’s legendary FPS is still capable of turning heads. In the run-up to the upcoming installment’s release, the developer has shared the new design for one of its most famous monsters, and it’s raising a few eyebrows.
10 banned books everyone needs to read
Banning books is not a new concept. Powerful governing bodies and grassroots organizations have long advocated for the censorship or outright banning of books based on certain criteria. Attempts are hotly contested, typically by readers, schools, libraries, and anyone else who sees reading as an unassailable right. Books continue to be challenged, even today. With that in mind, I’ve put together a list of banned books that are not only recommendations but also important literary milestones.
Is Schedule 1 Steam Deck compatible?
No doubt by now you’ll at least have heard of Schedule 1, the indie crime simulator that has you building a drug empire. Well, it seems to be doing fairly well for itself at the moment, evidence of how the indie scene can still make a splash in the cut-throat world of modern gaming. In fact, despite it seeming to come almost out of nowhere, it’s been making headlines, with it sitting on the number one spot on Steam’s Top Sellers list at the time of writing.
Atomfall: the difference between the Standard and Deluxe Edition
The last few months have seen some pretty great releases. Along with last year’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and the recent Avowed, Rebellion’s new survival first-person shooter, Atomfall, also looks like one to watch. Taking place in 1957 in an alternative timeline, you’ll get to explore, fight, craft, and scavenge your way through the British countryside.
Whatever Schedule 1 is, it's currently the top game on Steam
While it’s not always easy to keep up-to-date, the fact that there are so many games being released all the time means we’re living in a golden age of the industry. Even indie titles can make it in this cut-throat gaming world, but some seem to come out of nowhere. Take Schedule 1 (stylized as “Schedule I”), for example. Having recently taken a quick look at Steam’s Top Sellers list, I was anticipating seeing something like R.E.P.O. retain its position, or Atomfall to have seized the top spot.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle PS5 release date announced
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is not just a great game, but a fantastic love letter to the iconic movie franchise. Troy Baker’s take on the whip-wielding adventurer goes the extra mile to make it feel like an authentic “Indy” experience. It’s a bit of a shame, therefore, that the game was exclusive to Microsoft (Xbox and PC). However, we’d already heard on the grapevine that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was coming to PS5, and now we have a release date.
Bloodborne officially turns 10, and Sony still hasn't re-released it
There are some topics in the gaming world that will seemingly always remain in the limelight: the whereabouts of Half-Life 3, the ever-changing and fickle nature of the industry, and, of course, why Sony has yet to re-release Bloodborne. Going down as not only one of the greatest games of the PS4 era, but perhaps one of the best releases in recent history, Bloodborne officially turns ten years old today.
What is the Analogue 3D and why should Nintendo fans be excited?
As an aging gamer myself, nostalgia is something that’s always going to make me sit up and pay attention. Maybe this is why I keep going back to Streets of Rage 2 when the mood strikes. And the mood strikes quite a lot. It could also be why I’m excited about the Analogue 3D. If you’re a fan of Nintendo, specifically the N64, this is one device you may already be familiar with. Sadly, the company has recently announced that shipping of the Analogue 3D system has been delayed.
New Vegas mod cleans up the Strip, taking it back to 'its original concept'
Okay, it’s confession time. Who else felt a little underwhelmed when they first entered the Strip in Fallout: New Vegas? The game is magnificent in pretty much every way – and we are playing a post-apocalyptic game set after a nuclear war – but it does feel like the game’s biggest feature needs a bit of freshening up. Nexus Mods user Qolore7 evidently felt the same way.
Got a copy of Concord on PS5? You might be able to sell it on eBay for a few hundred
Remember Concord? Despite it not even being a year old, Firewalk Studios’ hero shooter has already been largely forgotten about. Well, unless you count it as something that will go down as one of the biggest flops of the current generation. However, if you happen to have a PlayStation 5 copy of the game, you might want to chuck it on eBay.
Resident Evil 3 is the latest RE game to join the Apple Store
It does seem pretty wild that we can now play AAA games on our mobile devices. Gone are the days of having stripped-down versions for portable gaming devices. Capcom has been keen on this idea, and Resident Evil 3 is the latest title to come to Apple. If you head over to the App Store, you’ll see the remake is now available to download on your phone or tablet. If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can now play RE3 on the go.
Todd Howard reveals his picks for Most Influential Game ahead of BAFTA Awards
The BAFTA Games Awards 2025 will kick off next week. In the run-up to the ceremony, fans from all over the world are asked to put in their two cents for the Most Influential Video Game of All Time. Cue Mr. Skyrim himself, Todd Howard, chiming in with his own opinion. In a recent post on X, the Bethesda co-founder gave a couple of shout-outs to some notable video games from the past.
Move over Leather Company, R.E.P.O. is the new king of multiplayer horror
Team-based horror games have really come into their own over the last few years. The likes of Phasmophobia and Lethal Company have set new standards for multiplayer survival tactics. But now R.E.P.O. is set to become the new darling of the genre (if it isn’t already). At the time of writing, the game has claimed the number two spot on Steam’s Top Sellers list.
Get your rampage on with this Morrowind dismemberment mod
For as long as video gaming has been a thing, people have craved a dose of digital violence. Even retro, high-fantasy games like Morrowind aren’t immune to the allure of on-screen savagery and the thrill of ending an NPC’s life, even if it is tame compared to other titles. But if you really want to get your blood thirst on in the third Elder Scrolls game, you might want to check out “Tis But a Scratch,” created by Nexus Mods user CarlZee.
All mainline Tekken games, ranked by Metacritic score
Fighting games have become such a mainstay that it’s hard to imagine the gaming industry without them. Such iconic names as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat helped set the stage for the genre in the early 1990s, but with advancements in 3D development, the likes of Tekken would soon cement its place.
Nvidia's claim it's sold twice as many RTX 50 cards as RTX 40 is flawed, reports say
It feels like the launch of the RTX 50 graphics card series by Nvidia could have gone better. There have been supply shortages and just a general “meh” response to the hardware. However, we’re being told the new GPUs are doing well, despite these concerns. In fact, they’ve already outsold the previous generation, according to Nvidia. The company has said that, within the space of just five weeks, the RTX 50 series has shipped twice as many units as the RTX 40 cards.
The Steam Spring Sale is a horror fest - and it's a good thing!
Ordinarily, whenever there’s a Steam sale, I like to give a general run-down on what you can expect, as well as the dates of the event. However, in this instance, I just want to give a quick shoutout to the Spring Sale, which definitely is tickling my horror fancy. I know we’re in March, but if you’re a fan of the more macabre and chilling side of gaming, you might want to head to Steam between now and March 20.
Eyes Never Wake: the indie horror game where you have to hide under your actual desk
There are several ways a horror game can put you in a constant state of peril. Some developers employ clever tactics that break the fourth wall, such as listening to your microphone, and the upcoming Eyes Never Wake definitely falls under that category.
Doom 2 becomes an espionage thriller with this upcoming mod
I must admit, I get a little antsy when I go a few days without talking about a Doom or Doom 2 mod. I dunno, there’s just something satisfying about how an influential franchise that’s older than some people reading is still providing an outlet for creativity. One recent example comes from ModDB user Graaicko, and essentially transforms Doom 2 into a CIA-based counter-terrorism shooter.
Okay, who had Postal 2 in VR on their 2025 bingo card?
While there are some who have yet to adopt the technology, virtual reality is slowly coming into its own. There are VR versions of many games, allowing you to really immerse yourself in digital worlds. So how would you feel about being immersed in the cartoon-y violence of Postal 2? Said to be one of the most controversial games in history, Postal 2 is finally coming to VR headsets, with a trailer below befitting the goofy and sadistic vibes that developer Running With Scissors is known for.
Silent Hill f director announces transmission, and I'm scared.
With the success of Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2, it’s safe to assume that Konami’s long-dormant series is back. As such, many will no doubt be excited for what comes next. With the latest Konami Transmission announced this week, should we even be excited? The Konami Transmission will provide an opportunity to discuss upcoming projects, in this case, Silent Hill f.
what's changed in Bleasdale Farmhouse?
Phasmophobia has gone through many changes since it was released back in 2020. While the core gameplay elements are still there, Kinetic Games has stayed true to what made its ghost-hunting title such a hit in the indie horror scene. As of right now, update 0.12.0.1 has started to roll out, which not only brings a few tweaks to the game but also introduces the first of two major reworks for some of Phasmo‘s legacy maps.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle getting close to its PS5 release?
Even as someone who’s not the most ardent fan of the film franchise, I was very impressed with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Its action-adventure storytelling, interesting puzzles, and Troy Baker’s take on the titular explorer made it a standout game. If there’s one downside to it, it’s that it’s currently an Xbox exclusive. While it has been confirmed that The Great Circle will be coming to PlayStation 5, we haven’t yet had a release date.
The 10 best-selling novels of all time
To produce a best-selling novel is undoubtedly a staggering feat. Anyone who’s ever tried to publish a book knows the drawn-out and thankless process that’s involved — assuming they can even get anything published at all. But there are some novels out there that have not only stood the test of time but have gone on to become veritable staples in the literary world.
Is this the most frustrating game ever?
If the sadist in you likes playing one of the more frustrating games out there, you can be rest assured there are a few options. If that’s your thing, here’s something to add to your pains: Make Good Choices. Released at the start of 2025, this small indie title will test the resolve of your shaky mettle.
In this day and age, why buy a console when you can just lease one?
It’s no secret that gaming in this modern era is expensive. The likes of a PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC hardware can set you back a pretty penny. So what if you rented your console instead? Well, if you’re a Sony fan living in the UK, you can do just that. Over on the PlayStation website, you can now choose to rent a PS5 on a monthly basis rather than buying the system outright.
GoldenEye 007 and Quake up for induction in the 2025 Video Game Hall of Fame
Over the last few decades, gaming has become one of the most popular pastimes, surpassing movies and music in terms of revenue streams. The likes of the Video Game Hall of Fame is a chance to honor some classic titles, and the choices for 2025 are now here. The Player’s Choice Ballot is live and goes on until March 13. It features a list of some legendary video games, which you can vote on.
Did you know there was almost a 90s game based on George Orwell's 1984?
Dystopian fiction is as much a staple of gaming as it is in movies. From Deus Ex to Papers, Please to Fallout, we love exploring the crumbling remnants of a crooked society with lashings of 1984. But did you know there was almost a game based directly on Orwell’s classic novel? As noted by PC Gamer, a demo of a long-since cancelled project has emerged.
Got a spare $100 to buy GTA 6? You might need it
We’re all probably getting a bit tired of hearing it, but it’s worth repeating: GTA 6 will, undoubtedly, be the biggest release in recent gaming history. Rockstar is going to be sparing no expense to deliver one of the most hyped installments in its lucrative franchise. Naturally, the studio is going to want to recoup all that money poured into the project, and it’s possible the game will set you back a handsome sum.
Kick demon ass as iconic Mortal Kombat characters with this Doom 2 mod
Doom and Doom 2 have been around for decades and have retained their status as influential games in the first-person shooter genre. But the series isn’t as old as, say, Mortal Kombat, which released its first game in 1992. Hmmm…I wonder what it would be like to mix the two together. Lo and behold, someone has done just that. Take a look at what SkeletronMK666 over on ModDB has given us.
Revealed: This is the most gaming-obsessed state in the US
Gaming is, without hyperbole, the biggest industry we have right now; more so than film and music. Billions of dollars in revenue are generated every year, and video games are set to become more lucrative, it seems. But, if you’re from the US, it might interest to know that gaming has different trends, depending on which state you look at. That’s according to a recent study conducted by Prodigy Game, which has analyzed data from across America to see who’s more obsessed than others.
Skyrim just keeps getting prettier with all these Unreal Engine 5 renders Original
If there’s one thing to be said about Skyrim, it’s that it’s a pretty game. From day one (cast your minds waaaay back), it’s been held aloft for its visual qualities. Okay, the vanilla release has aged massively, but we have ways of milking this RPG cow. As noted by DSO Gaming, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim still has some life left in it, to the point where it can be reinterpreted in a different engine for that umph in graphical acuity. In this instance, YouTuber L.
How long has Rockstar been working on GTA 6? A timeline
It’s no secret that GTA 6 is almost certainly going to be one of the biggest releases in recent gaming history, if not the biggest. Since the fifth game in Rockstar’s monstrously lucrative Grand Theft Auto series released back in 2013, many eagerly anticipate the next installment. We know the studio has been working on it for what feels like an eternity.
Are you a UK gamer hoping to get an Nvidia RTX 5090? You could be in for a long wait
About a month ago, Nvidia got the ball rolling on the next generation of PC hardware by releasing its RTX 5000 series GPUs. Things haven’t gone off to a magnificent start, it seems. Among some models missing components (admittedly, these are rare instances), there’s also supply issues. If you’re a gamer in the UK who’s looking to upgrade their rig, you might not be in luck if you’re holding out for one of Nvidia’s newest products.
