Guilty plea in Pekin gas dumping case PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A man who once worked at a Pekin auto shop pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal charges alleging he and others dumped gas from junk cars into Pekin's sewer system. David D. Driggers III pleaded guilty to conspiring to violate the Clean Water Act as well as two specific violations of the Act in March 2021. He is the third of four to plead guilty.

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A 42-year-old Pekin man was sentenced last week to 10 years in federal prison for trying to entice a minor for sexual purposes. Mark Steven Peterson, 42, was sentenced on June 18 by U.S. District Judge Jonathan Hawley, who also ordered him to register as a sex offender. According to an affidavit contained in the initial charge, Peterson initiated contact through a social media platform with an individual whom he believed was the stepfather of a 10-year-old girl.

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A Peoria man was sentenced last week to three years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. Matthew T. Cosey, 32, was sentenced June 18 after being convicted of two counts of distribution of methamphetamine. He received three-year terms on each charge, which will be served at the same time, according to court records. He pleaded guilty in February after being indicted by a federal grand jury in early 2023.
