Investigadores de l'Institut de Diagnosi Ambiental i Estudis de l'Aigua (IDAEA-CSIC) han estudiat la presència dels ftalats i, per primera vegada, de dues famílies més de plastificants, en 41 productes menstruals, tant d’un sol ús –compreses, protectors íntims i tampons– com reutilitzables –copa menstrual, calcetes menstruals i compreses de tela.

Researchers from the Institute for Environmental Diagnosis and Water Studies (IDAEA-CSIC) have studied the presence of phthalates and, for the first time, two other families of plasticizers in 41 menstrual products, both disposable—pads, panty liners, and tampons—and cloth pads. The plasticizers studied are organophosphate esters—which, like phthalates, can act as endocrine disruptors—and alternative plasticizers, new compounds whose potential toxicity is unknown.
