Ammonia is one of the most important chemicals produced in the world, finding uses in a multitude of applications such as agriculture, textile manufacturing, plastic production, refrigeration, and more. Today, 183 million metric tons of ammonia is produced annually making it the second-most produced chemical by mass, and is estimated to account for 15–20% of the greenhouse gas emissions from the chemical sector.
