To the Editor: Smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) is a precursor to active multiple myeloma (MM) characterized by a higher plasma cell burden than monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) but without evidence of the end-organ damage that defines MM [1, 2]. Current SMM guidelines advocate for close observation for progression to symptomatic progression to MM, with some studies suggesting the benefit of early intervention for patients with a high risk (HR) of progression [3].

Abstract Current prognostic scores in multiple myeloma (MM) currently rely on disease burden and a limited set of genomic alterations. Some studies have suggested gene expression panels may predict clinical outcomes, but none are presently utilized in clinical practice. The tyrosine kinase WEE1 is a critical cell cycle regulator during the S-phase and G2M checkpoint.

Abstract The rich diversity of synapses facilitates the capacity of neural circuits to transmit, process and store information. We used multiplex super-resolution proteometric imaging through array tomography to define features of single synapses in mouse neocortex. We find that glutamatergic synapses cluster into subclasses that parallel the distinct biochemical and functional categories of receptor subunits: GluA1/4, GluA2/3 and GluN1/GluN2B.
