1 INTRODUCTION Over the past few decades, the expectations and scope of police departments worldwide have undergone a profound transformation to effectively respond to the evolving needs of society, with a focus on fair and equitable responses to cases involving behavioural and/or mental health crises (Paterson & Pollock, 2016).

1. Introduction Air-conducted sound (ACS) and bone-conducted vibration (BCV) are now routinely used for clinical testing of vestibular function because animal studies have shown that vestibular receptors and primary afferent neurons can be activated by these stimuli (see [1,2,3,4,5] for reviews).

Fetal abduction is a crime in which a perpetrator forcibly cuts an unborn baby from a pregnant woman's uterus. The act is usually fatal for the mother or baby, or both. The crime of fetal abduction is rare and relatively new, but publicity is high when it occurs (Arquette, 2012). Over the past decade, a small but steady increase in articles regarding fetal abduction has appeared in specialty journals.
