What was your first job as a journalist?

I got my break as editor at Ignant Magazine in 2015.

Not to file anything on!

It's scrambling the established codes of attention, focus, time, trust and truth.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

It's a three-way tie between Carrie Bradshaw, Bridget Jones and Miranda Priestly.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To pursue better questions.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

A brief email with the hook and an image is great.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I keep it simple with Word, Google Docs and Sheets, my Notes and Calendar apps, and Are.na.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Exploring my current city, camera in hand.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

The New Yorker, The Gentlewoman, Apartamento and Openhouse.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That it primarily operates at surface level.
