You may have heard that we photographed and interviewed Mr Cumberbatch for an ELLE cover recently. Not that we've mentioned it much, but word does spread... (you can read the full story here) During the course of  the day, we fell to talking about sex. Specifically, Sherlock and sex.

Mr Joe Wright’s historical drama Darkest Hour follows Sir Winston Churchill (ambitiously and uncannily played by Mr Gary Oldman) in the days following his election to the office of prime minister, as he battles with his conscience and his public as to whether or not he should honour a peace treaty with Nazi Germany that was negotiated by his predecessor, Mr Neville Chamberlain.

It’s 1978 and in a Boston warehouse, an IRA arms trade goes wrong, leading to a bloody, chaotic battle between two gangs. However, this is also a Mr Ben Wheatley production, so the physical violence going down on screen is outclassed by the psychological games he plays. Mr Wheatley’s last film, High-Rise with Mr Tom Hiddleston, was lauded as a masterpiece by some and derided as celluloid masturbation by others. Free Fire is a wholly more digestible enterprise and much the better for it.
