ABSTRACT Mirror dwelling – the act of observing one’s avatar in a virtual mirror – has emerged as a compelling behavioral phenomenon in Social Virtual Reality (SVR). Yet, its psychological underpinnings remain underexplored. This pre-registered study investigates how mirror dwelling contributes to users’ sense of presence and embodiment, key experiential constructs in immersive virtual environments.
