Doug Taylor is almost 80 and has been caring for his wife, Eileen, ever since she was diagnosed with dementia over a decade ago. Now he is struggling himself, with prostate cancer, osteoarthritis and sciatica. Doug has applied for home care but has been told he has to wait nine to 12 months to be assessed, and then could wait up to a year more before he gets support.

Initial DecodeME DNA Results

06 August 2025 The DecodeME team is delighted to announce that the initial analysis of 15,579 DNA samples is complete, and we have important news to share. Main findings from our analysis Your genes contribute to your chances of developing ME/CFS. People with an ME/CFS diagnosis have significant genetic differences in their DNA compared to the general population. These lie in many places across the genome, and do not impact just one gene. Eight genetic signals have been identified.

For the past four months, I've been starting my weekend with what many might consider a rather unnerving ritual. Every Saturday morning, I make coffee, sit down at my computer from my home in Sydney, and log on to a scheduled Zoom call for a half hour conversation with a convicted killer at Goulburn prison. Garry Davis is 38, but has already spent almost a decade behind bars for a heinous crime.
