The creator of The Twilight Zone used his trailblazing series to wrestle with the moral issues of his time. In addition to co-writing the screenplay for the original 1968 Planet of the Apes movie that launched the third longest running movie franchise in the world, Rod Serling’s greatest achievement was his TV series The Twilight Zone, which he used as a platform to fight against fascism, racial injustice, and prejudice, while promoting social equity.
By Chris Longo | December 31, 2020 | | Comments count:0 Photo: CBS It was a year befitting of Rod Serling’s TV classic. My name is Anne Serling. I’m the youngest daughter of Rod Serling, the writer best known as the host and creator of The Twilight Zone. As a child, I didn’t really relate to his professional work. I knew that he was a writer, but not specifically what he wrote. There didn’t seem anything unique about what he did.
