On April 21, Leonardo Cuervo filed a class action California labor lawsuit charging Yelp, Inc. with failing to pay workers for the time they spent booting up their computers. In addition, Cuervo v. Yelp, Inc. alleges that the company failed to provide legally mandated rest and meal breaks, provide accurate wage statements and pay departing workers in a timely manner.

On March 30, Jacquilyn Vigay filed a class action California labor lawsuit against Coast Medical Service, Inc. Jacquilyn Vigay v. Coast Medical Service, Inc. charges the healthcare staffing service with violating multiple sections of the California Labor Code, as well as Wage Orders and the Business and Professional Code. The Complaint offers a comprehensive review of what these provisions of California law require, but it is strangely silent about what happened to Vigay or how she made her living.

On April 20, Rideshare Drivers United (RDU), a non-profit organization representing roughly 20,000 app-based workers, sued Uber Technologies in San Francisco Superior Court. Rideshare Drivers United v. Uber Technologies, Inc. alleges that Uber has ignored the requirement of Proposition 22 that it provide drivers with an appeals process when they are deactivated from the app. Drivers lose their ability to drive for Uber without knowing why and without any way to challenge their deactivation.
