The finance minister allocated about ₹2,500 crore for tourism, including for the development of new trekking routes and the training of 10,000 guides with a programme developed by an IIM. Before I say it is a good or a bad thing, it has been a long time coming. Nepal has built an entire economy out of the Himalayas while India mostly treats them like difficult wallpaper. The trekking industry in Nepal is astonishingly organised.

Greece-based Elica Interconnector, which is developing the GREGY electricity interconnection project between Egypt and Greece, is planning to launch international tenders for marine survey and other studies, the company CEO said. Speaking at an event in Athens on Wednesday, John Karydas said optimal routing, technical analysis and cost-benefit assessment (CBA) studies for the project have been completed.

UAE-based Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) announced on Tuesday its second desalination project under a public-private partnership (PPP) model in the country. The state-owned utility’s development and investment arm signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement for the Fujairah I Independent Water Producer (IWP) project with a consortium of Abu Dhabi-based NMDC Infra and Spain’s Lantania Aguas.
