The Colonial State and Forms of Knowledge: The British in India edited by Vinay Lal, Delhi: Primus Books, 2022; pp 293, `1,450. Allegorically, Plato’s cavemen characterised the modern sciences. Both seemed to have operated with a world view, limited to a particular way of seeing. The cavemen worked upon reasoning and methodology involved in perceiving the cave, amounting to a delimited epistemology.
