A consistent coupling of two‐moment microphysics and bulk ice optical properties, and its impact on radiation in a regional weather model
1 INTRODUCTION The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has long highlighted the lack of understanding of the radiative coupling of clouds to the atmosphere, notably in their 2021 report and earlier assessments. This gap in knowledge exacerbates the significant uncertainty in predicting the Earth's climate equilibrium, as summarised by Stocker et al. (2013). The primary driver of this uncertainty is the cloud radiative feedback effect, as discussed by Boucher et al.
