Anthony Qi was born in Buffalo, New York, and raised in Houston in a household that encouraged both learning and exploration. Growing up, he developed an appreciation for curiosity and persistence, traits that would guide his path forward. After finishing high school, he was accepted into the Business Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin, a highly selective program recognized for its rigorous academics and focus on leadership, where he began shaping his professional direction.
At UT Austin, Anthony pursued a Finance major with a Spanish minor, graduating in 2018 with a major GPA of 3.5. The program gave him a strong foundation in analytical thinking and problem-solving, while also immersing him in challenging case studies and collaborative projects. In 2015, he spent a semester abroad at the Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires, where he studied program management while fully immersing himself in the Spanish language and local culture, broadening his worldview.
Anthony began his career with internships at Goshawk Global Investments, Nine Ten Capital Management, and Intertek in Shanghai, gaining valuable exposure to markets, analysis, and global business. His first full-time position was at Highside Global Management, a $250 million hedge fund, where he spent nearly four years sourcing investment opportunities and managing sector coverage across advertising, logistics, and transportation. His disciplined, evidence-based approach allowed him to identify market inefficiencies with clarity and precision.
Eventually, Anthony transitioned into product and software development, taking on a founding role at a startup that built research tools for hedge funds and investigative journalists. In this position, he contributed to product design, UI/UX feedback, feature development, and client relationships, while also working on data analysis and business strategy. His work helped shape tools that combined regulatory data and industry insights, reflecting his ability to bridge Finance with technology in practical and creative ways.
Today, Anthony Qi brings together financial expertise, technical knowledge, and global awareness.
