In January 2020, a delegation from the American Nuclear Society participated in an OECD Nuclear Energy Agency workshop in Lisbon, Portugal, titled “Optimization: Rethinking the Art of Reasonable.” The objective of the workshop was to discuss the nature and intent of optimization in radiological protection and to explore reasonableness in applying the optimization principle.
