Ferrari focused on comparing different floor setups in morning test session at Yas Marina
The final track session of the 2024 Formula 1 season is underway with traditional post-championship tests. These allow rookies to gain experience in F1 cars using 2024-spec tires and provide teams with critical data for the 2025 season. While one car is designated for rookies, limited to the current year’s tires, the other focuses on testing the 2025 tire compounds, offering valuable insights into tire performance and aiding in simulator development for next year’s cars.
Ferrari: silence on who will be the rookie in first practice at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi
Is this news turning into a case? We had written that Antonio Fuoco would drive the Ferrari SF-24 in FP1 of the Abu Dhabi GP, because in the meantime, Oliver Bearman, who had been the designated rookie in the team’s plans, lost his “rookie” status after competing in his third race of the season with Haas, replacing regular driver Kevin Magnussen, who was unable to drive the VF-24 in Interlagos due to illness.
he will take Carlos Sainz's place in Abu Dhabi
Oliver Bearman will not be able to take Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari seat in FP1 of the Abu Dhabi GP as previously planned. Instead, an Italian driver might step in. The English driver, having competed in his third official F1 race, has lost his rookie status according to FIA rules and therefore cannot participate in the session. FP1 in Abu Dhabi is reserved for rookie drivers, and Oliver Bearman was originally set to take Carlos Sainz’s place.
Ferrari: Antonio Fuoco prepares for Abu Dhabi FP1 in F1-75 at Fiorano
With his appearance at the Brazilian GP in Kevin Magnussen’s Haas, Oliver Bearman has changed status: the FIA no longer considers him a rookie, so he cannot drive the Ferrari SF-24 in the first free practice session of the Abu Dhabi GP, since the Interlagos round marked his third race in the top series, surpassing the limit of two entries allowed to still be considered a developing talent. Oliver Bearman doesn’t need it, as he already has a 2025 contract to drive for Haas alongside Esteban Ocon.
