I keep forgetting to mention the most crucial part of the game — which is that Coen is also a vrakhir. He’s only part Vampire — he’s a dawnwalker, who can face sunlight and live as a human in the mornings. Which means that in this game, he personifies hustle culture. He’s awake morning and night, getting twice the amount of work done making the rest of us look bad. And he harnesses a different set of powers (which allows for some really cool gameplay dynamics).

My partner has been growing increasingly concerned about the amount of time I’ve been spending on this game called Restory. Just the other day, he came up to me when I was playing it, and sweetly suggested that if I felt this was my true calling, I should just set up my own repair shop. I wish I could — but those are not the times we live in anymore. This is what Restory tries to tell us, in its own very strange way. What is this game about?

It’s a bit embarrassing for me to admit that after years and years of playing video games, I only recently realised that rhythm-based video games are an extreme sport. Its roots trace back to arcade games, which involved either punching lit up buttons in order, or stepping on them. Personally, I remember ‘Dance Dance Revolution’ being quite prevalent in pop culture. ‘Guitar Hero’ is another big one.
