What was your first job as a journalist?

in 2019 I used to write animation tutorials for this blog, It didn't pay very much, and my work has since been lost to time.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, I used one for a high school play. Even though it was just a prop, it still worked.

How is social media changing news?

With X being owned by Elon I feel as though misinformation and right-wing propaganda is becoming more of an issue.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Tin Tin. I had an OC back in high school and I used to make comics of her going on these Indiana Jones-style adventures similar to Tin Tin

What does it mean to be a journalist?

For me fighting misinformation and speaking out on issues

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

probably when they write headlines on famous people in a way that makes it seem like they died, ig Pope Francis passed another peaceful night

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Via Email

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Mostly Google Docs, all you'd really need is a pen and paper, or in my case a laptop and a Gmail account

What's your favorite social network?

Like many journalists, I moved to Bluesky, as it's a less hostel place than X especially if you're trans.

Who do you wish followed you?

Gayle King

Why did you become a journalist?

After the results of the election, I just knew this country was going in a horrific direction and I got into reporting as a way to vent.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

We didn't have a newspaper, but since I wanted to be a journalist around my sophomore/junior year I probably would if we did.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

probably my first real one, which is the "BIgot Mobile" story. It really opened the door for me

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

I don't know if I should be the person you should go to for advice, but I'd say throw all doubt out the window and just do.

When's the best time to pitch you?

around 11 A.M. PST

What's the best pitch you ever got?

I don't know, no one has come to me with anything yet. :P

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

I do not know, I haven't received any pitches yet :|

What's your favorite drink?

a Vodka Tonic

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

the club, the park, mercilessly beating my roommates at Mancala.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

works from ErininTheMorning, Grist, The Appeal, and UnicornRiot

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That it's the most soul-crushing topic to cover in 2025, and while yeah it mostly is but the world isn't all negative as it's portrayed.
