The Oxford Students' Union (SU) has announced the results of its 2026 election. Roxi Rusu, who ran unopposed, has been elected President for Communities and Common Rooms. Zagham Farhan was elected President for Undergraduates alongside David Quan, who was elected President for Postgraduates. Catherine Kola-Balogun will be the new President for Welfare, Equity, and Inclusion. The elections saw a turnout of 2,862 individual voters.

An emeritus professor at the Saïd Business School, who is also a fellow of an Oxford college, was investigated for rape by Thames Valley Police (TVP). He remains in his positions at the University of Oxford despite the accusations, which were made by a female academic. Emeritus status allows individuals to keep using University premises. Cherwell understands that the professor was arrested and interviewed by TVP in relation to allegations of rape, and was later released on bail.

The Senior Chaplain at the Oxford University Catholic Chaplaincy (OUCC), Father Damian Howard, was asked to step down last August after a student made a complaint of sexual abuse against him. A Cherwell investigation has subsequently revealed that Jesuits in Britain, the organisation which appoints the Senior Catholic Chaplain at the OUCC, substantially misrepresented the nature of the complaint made by the student.
