But just as helpful, she says, was relentless encouragement.

For the first time in 30 years, Traverse City’s Park Place Hotel will have local owners. A group of Traverse City investors – led by Adam Miller, Chad Miller, Jason Granger, and Nathan Kessler – have an agreement to purchase the landmark hotel on State Street from Regency Midwest. The sale is expected to close this fall, with Traverse City commissioners approving the transfer of the hotel’s liquor licenses to the newly formed Park Place Hospitality LLC Monday.

Franke Road will close starting at 7am Tuesday for approximately two months as crews begin a long-awaited overhaul of the corridor. The Grand Traverse County Road Commission announced road work will begin Tuesday, with Franke expected to reopen "prior to the start of the school year on or about September 3." Franke Road extends from Silver Lake Road to US-31 behind the Traverse City Meijer store, with the TCAPS Montessori School also located along the corridor.
