Suspected Marburg outbreak in Uganda prompts US alert

The US embassy in Uganda has issued an alert over reports of a potential Marburg case in the country's western region. "The US Embassy is aware there are reports of a potential case of Marburg Virus Disease, a viral haemorrhagic fever, in western Uganda," it said in the advisory, which was published on Monday. As of Tuesday, Uganda's health ministry had yet to release any information on the suspected outbreak, which remains unconfirmed.
