That devastation gave way to a celebration of healing Saturday at the Arts Revive. The gathering resembled a congregation of Central Alabama’s political heavyweights, with none more enthusiastic about the day’s success than Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr..

Published 12:08 pm Friday, January 19, 2024 Selma City Schools experienced a decline in all scoring facets of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) report card in December, with the exception of chronic absenteeism. This trend is not unique to Selma City Schools; Dallas County Schools also experienced a rise in chronic absenteeism. Currently, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and the 12th-grade report the highest chronic absenteeism in the Selma City School System.

Published 1:18 pm Thursday, January 18, 2024 On Wednesday, Wallace Community College Selma – Best Buy Teen Tech Center welcomed students for the new semester. After Martin Luther King weekend celebrations and inclement weather shutdowns, students were set for the new school year at the Teen Tech Center, “Where technology meets imagination!” Best Buy Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1994, supports brighter futures for teens from disinvested communities.
