Apr 13, 2026, 4:50 AM From the Rubenstein Arts Center to East Campus residence halls, Seders — religious dinners traditionally hosted on the first and second nights of the Jewish holiday Passover — took place all over campus last week as part of Jewish Life at Duke’s Host Your Own Seder program. Jewish and non-Jewish Seder attendees reflected on their experiences observing Passover at Duke, sharing cultures and traditions.

Bearing the face of his beloved cat Butter, sophomore Bowen Gao is running for Duke Student Government president “for the love of the game.” Hailing from Charleston, S.C, Gao is majoring in biology on the pre-med track. Although he is not a member of DSG and declined to answer if he had ever served in previous sessions, Gao is involved in the Duke community in other ways.

Duke Student Government presidential candidate Yash Sharma aims to empower student voices, improve the current and bring safe parties back to campus. “I want to focus on talking to not only as many student organizations as possible, but as many students as possible to learn how everyday concerns can be turned over while you're still student at Duke, or even within the same semester,” he said. A junior from Illinois, Sharma is studying public policy, psychology and education.
