Blizzard Reveals BlizzCon 2026 In-Game Cosmetic Bundles
Whether you’re actually making the trek to the Anaheim floor this September or planning to soak in the madness entirely from the comfort of your couch, Blizzard has revealed the glorious return of their BlizzCon Digital Bundles.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Review
It has been over a decade since Edward Kenway first took the wheel of the Jackdaw, and for a massive segment of the gaming community, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remains the undisputed high-water mark of the entire franchise. The series gimmick of dropping players into a specific spectacular time period felt deliciously ripe for swashbuckling shenanigans – creating a fondly remembered freebooter foray across the Caribbean.
Star Fox Review
Star Fox originally debuted back in 1993, but for some reason it never once hit my radar. My stepbrother had the game (he even had the iconic puppet poster on his wall) but nothing ever compelled me to ask about it. Then the franchise was revisited and re-released multiple times over the decades, giving me ample opportunities to get amongst it – but I still never dipped a toe in.
The Grand Theft Auto 6 Pre-Order Date Has Been Revealed Alongside Its Cover Art
Preorders for GTA6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S go live on June 25, 2026 – remembering of course that the game isn’t coming to PC for a hot minute, so console-enjoyers are primed to thumb their noses at their PC-platformed mates for a while. As for the cover art, it is the traditional (and very cool) collage-style spotlight on what to expect in the game – with hand-drawn guys, gals, gators and guns.
Overwatch’s Season 3 Sends You Into The Tiger’s Den
The wait will be a short one, given that the season drops tomorrow – but for those needing a bit more granularity in what is coming, here are the details right from the tiger’s mouth: Are you ready to step Into the Tiger’s Den? ㅤ A new chapter in the Reign of Talon starts here with the arrival of our newest Damage Hero, Shion.
Rhythm Paradise Groove Preview – A Series That Plays To The Beat Of My Heart
Comfort food. Something you imbibe when all you want to do is feel good, feel happy. It is a very human concept to have something in your back pocket to chase away all the negativity in the world and let you just exist in a zen-like state of positivity for a little while. While I have many comfort foods (to which my physique can attest) I also have a comfort game series, in the form of Rhythm Paradise (or Rhythm Heaven in non-PAL regions).
The Newest Overwatch Character Is A Scary Robot Lady Wearing A Human Face
The next season of Overwatch looms, and with it comes one of the many new characters promised as part of the enormous 2026 relaunch of the game. This time we have a new baddie entering the roster – Shion, the Hashimoto Clan’s most terrifying elder. It’s a killer short, and I do love me an unnerving humanoid robot. The way her human-like face is not equipped to lip synch her Omnic speech is a great quirk to really sell she isn’t a heavily roboticised human, she is a heavily humanised Omnic.
DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations DLC Releases This July
id Software finally gave sawshield fanatics a look at DOOM: The Dark Ages upcoming Revelations DLC during the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2026. With new weapons, new enemies and a saucy new look for the Doomslayer, players look to be in for a real treat when the DLC drops on July 7. Right off the bat, players look to be getting an all-new Chain Spear weapon, that may well also serve as a grappling hook – perhaps bringing back some of the gravity-defying gameplay of Doom Eternal.
Star Fox Preview – I Have Never Played A Star Fox Game Before
It’s not often I find myself in a position to experience a gaming legacy entirely fresh. My many years on this Earth, helped by my keen interest in gaming, have afforded me a great many instances to see a ton of iconic characters (and franchises) both grow and sadly wither away. I feel I could hold my own in a trivia battle spanning at least the last three decades. But Star Fox always eluded me in the oddest ways.
Space Marine 2’s Community Update Reveals A New Class Is Coming
Warhammer Skulls Fest 2026 has come and gone with a slew of Warhammer video game news, but apparently one tasty morsel managed to escape that showcase and instead reveal itself over at the Focus Community forums. That being the May Community Update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and the downright exciting news that another class will come to the game in 2027. Year 3 of #SpaceMarine2 will bring new missions, weapons and a brand-new class 👀 Think you know which one it is?
The Jackdaw Can Run On Autopilot In Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
You can’t talk about Edward Kenway’s Caribbean adventures in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag without talking about his true partner in crime: the Jackdaw. More than just wood and canvas, this ship is a character all on its own. While veterans will instantly recognise her magnificent prow, she’s gotten some sweet upgrades in the Resynched iteration.
Jason Voorhees Has Seemingly Escaped Copyright Hell To Join Dead By Daylight
As a big fan of Jason Voorhees I am more than willing to admit that I had given up on seeing any news related to him in the modern era. I just assumed that the negative situation regarding his appearance rights would devour him completely forevermore – even a brief stint in MultiVersus ended in disaster. But consider me downright shooketh, as a mate took the time to make me aware that Dead By Daylight had some anniversary news: The kind that wears a hockey mask. The mask is on.
A Short Rocket League Teaser Has Revealed Unreal Engine 6
People attending the Rocket League Championship Series 2026 – Paris Major were treated to a rapid teaser of what the game has in store for the future, with the biggest shock coming from the very end of the clip – when the customary Unreal Engine logo displayed a big ‘ol number 6 next to it. Gadzooks. What. A. Moment. The crowd reacts to the new era of Rocket League.
Warhammer Skulls Fest 2026 Has Arrived, With Warhammer Video Game Reveals Galore
Warhammer Skulls has once more deliver its incredible bounty of Warhammer gaming news, promising another plethora of interactive gaming goodness to come. Whether it’s a new title, or a huge DLC – here is the breadth of announcements from Warhammer Skulls 2026. Owlcat games has delivered not just a beta gameplay trailer, but a collector’s edition trailer for those fortunate to be able to afford such a treasure.
Bungie Preps For Layoffs As Destiny 2 Development Is Shuttered
Reports are circulating that Bungie is preparing for major layoffs after Destiny 2 delivers its final update, Monument of Triumph. Initially shared by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, Bungie’s next move will be to focus on their live-service shooter Marathon as it is revealed that a sequel to Destiny 3 is NOT in development. Internal staff are pitching new ideas – including Destiny titles – however none are greenlit.
Bluey's Quest for the Gold Pen
Bluey's Quest for the Gold Pen is a safe, cozy, and distinctly Bluey-styled adventure that understands its audience perfectly – even if it trades adult-sized thrills for a perfectly calibrated, frustration-free quest for the little tackers. Read full review The plot, a new story by the show's creator, is barely a premise as the characters show no growth narratively or mechanically.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Preview – The Pirate Ship Of Theseus
I have always been hot and cold on the Assassin’s Creed series. I remember almost missing the first one entirely at the time of its release, but then watched a mate ascending towers and witnessing the incredible world around him, prompting me to rush to my local game store and grab a copy that very afternoon.
Bluey’s Quest For The Gold Pen Review
At this point Bluey is an institution – and rightly so. That little blue dog has brought joy, sadness and everything in between to families worldwide, so it seems only right that puzzlement and adventure join the fray by way of interactive media. Sure we have already had a Bluey game, but its slapdash nature and rush to market meant that the 2023 title Bluey: The Videogame was a quickie rather than a goodie.
PlayStation State Of Play Returns In June, With An Extended Look At Marvel’s Wolverine And More
PlayStation just dropped the date for their next State of Play, and it’s looking to be a lengthy one. On June 3 (AEST) 2026, we’re getting more than an hour of updates, trailers, and gameplay reveals from some of the best studios worldwide – with a promised focus on Marvel’s Wolverine for the many of us waiting to get our *snikt* on. State of Play returns on June 2.
Yoshi And The Mysterious Book Review
Nintendo platformers oft come with a very specific formula, so much so that jumping into one is an exercise in discovering what is different, rather than what is new. I don’t say this with any negativity backing such a statement, it’s part of the timeless charm and familiarity one can afford to hop into the latest offering and feel right at home – charging ever rightward towards a goal flag while hopping death-pits and dodging dangerous do-badders. Maybe a boss will tie you up for a spell.
PAX Aus Welcomes World Of Warcraft Lead Holly Longdale As Storytime Speaker
For people looking forward to PAX Aus 2026 serving up some amazing guest personalities, allow me to formally kick off the hype party with the reveal that one such human being will be none other than World of Warcraft Executive Producer, Holly Longdale.
PlayStation Pivots To No Longer Bring Their Big Single Player Games To PC
A few weeks back, Jason Schreier reported internal details that PlayStation was considering ending its PC port strategy for single player games. Well the news today isn’t good as head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, has confirmed to staff as part of a company town hall meeting that new narrative titles will stay console exclusive .
Turns Out You Shao Kahn’t Wear The MK2 Popcorn Helmet
Sometimes video game journalism is dirty work. Sometimes you need to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty with popcorn grease, and ask the hard questions: “Can you wear the Shao Kahn popcorn Helmet?” This is my query this day as the very real release of the Mortal Kombat II film looms. I am quite sure I am going to enjoy the film, but what of the trimmings? What of the plastic guff and gaff that can be purchased alongside a ticket to the blood fiesta?
The Steam Controller Sold Out In Under 30 Minutes On Steam’s US Storefront
Less than half an hour after releasing on the US Steam storefront, the Steam Controller sold out – while also entirely destroying Steam’s servers. Right after 3pm, the website DownDetector shows the immense spike of shoppers crushing Valve’s servers in a mad rush to get their hands on what every Steam Deck owner dreams of: the inputs of a Steam Deck on their PC. User reports indicate problems with Steam since 1:16 PM EDT. How is it affecting you?
Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil Now Has A Suitably Chilling Teaser Trailer
After many a cinematic effort, we may finally have a truly terrifying Resident Evil flick on our hands. From Zach Cregger (The dude behind Weapons, Barbarian) we get another (another) reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise – and BOY HOWDY, does the trailer do a great job of setting the tone: What a time. Not a cell phone in sight. Literally, because the dude needed to let himself into a strangers house to use the landline. Chock full of disturbing stuff to see, I don’t even know where to begin.
Invincible VS Review
I have a terrible relationship with tag fighters. I am one of those club-thumbed idiots who can barely focus on the buttons I am meant to push to make my punchy man do the right punches, let alone with his two friends kick-man and fireball girl waiting in the wings. This meant that when all my friends were grooving on with the Marvel vs. Capcom series, I was a rapt spectator reminding people that no, Venom is not just a black, gooey Spider-Man.
Blizzard Has Quietly Added The Original Warcraft III Back To Battle.Net
Man, remember Warcraft III: Reforged? Some of us do. The remaster managed to deliver a high definition experience to the classic RTS – at the cost of a great many features. That’s right, the most painful part of the Reforged saga was the fact that the original Warcraft III ceased to exist. It replaced the codebase for all people that had Warcraft III/The Frozen Throne on their account, so if people did not want to jump into the Reforged experience, they had little choice.
The New Steam Controller Hits Australia On May 5
It’s been a bit of a ride for those excited for new Valve hardware. From terrifying component prices and concerning distribution news, people were getting a tad worried that they may never see this stuff come to light. But lo and behold, the Steam Controller has made it’s way to us all. Not only that, but it will be available to order starting on May 5, priced at $149 in Australian Dolllary-doos.
Hoist The Colours, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Has Been Showcased
Make no mistake, I am a sucker for the world of Pirates. It’s one of the few settings that somehow manages to still feel wide open and worth exploring in my many realms of interactive media. It basically elevates everything it is applied to – with no better example than Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Edward Kenway’s nautical misadventures turned me from an Assassin’s Creed sceptic to a full-blown believer.
Warhorse Studios Is Funding The Restoration Of The Real-Life Pirkštejn Castle
There’s currently a hefty discount on the Steam version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and the developers at Warhorse have felt that they can incentivise all the remaining fence sitters to perhaps jump in the saddle with one neat trick: Historical Reconstruction.
Yoshi And The Mysterious Book Preview – Science By Way Of Tonguing Stuff
Curiosity is a cornerstone to exploration, particularly in games. Playing a platforming game and wondering what is up there or can I jump beyond that gap is hardwired into anyone who has spent more than 10 seconds with a d-pad under their thumb. It’s basically second nature, almost a mundane force that helps drive your way forward to that goal flag. But what if it was the lion’s share of your gameplay experience?
Despite Fitting The Doomed Steam Early Access Stereotype, Windrose Has Sailed Past 1 Million Copies Sold
Windrose, latest surprise smash hit to grace Steam, has blasted past some impressive milestones in its first week of release – amassing an intense 200,000 simultaneous players and 1 million copies sold. If you are unaware of Windrose, that’s understandable. The pirate-themed survival experience only really been live for a paltry eight days and bears all the cursed marks of a doomed Steam Early Access title.
Diablo IV: Lord Of Hatred Review
The slow-burn story of Diablo IV has been a welcome one. Previously, Diablo would effectively wrap up its main story beats well in advance of an expansion, resulting in the inevitable expanded content to speedrun through the narrative framework of why a new fearsome foe was setting their sights on your mortal being. With time comes retrospect, and it is clear that Blizzard has realised that if expansions are expected content, they better plant the narrative seeds well in advance.
Dosa Divas Review
Many many moons ago I saw some marketing for Dosa Divas, and was presented with a tale that promised a ‘Spicy JRPG’ that was deeply entwined with cooking elements. It had that unmistakable smacking of a genre fusion that seemed so rich with potential I just had to know more – I desperately wanted to kick some arse with a wok that could also serve up a tasty dish. Spatula nunchucks? Inspired. And then, they revealed the game also included big honkin’ robots.
Overwatch Newcomer Sierra Now Has A Gameplay Trailer
After a fun little cinematic debut, newcomer Sierra has now been graced with a proper gameplay showcase to get us up to speed on what that whacky gun is capable of. And good lord, that isn’t even auto-aim – that is straight up heat seeking bullets. Take a squiz: So Sierra fills the DPS role within the game, with a slew of fun toys that play to anti-air options and movement possibilities.
Sony Has Signed A Deal To Bring A Metal Gear Solid Movie To Life
In a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Final Destination: Bloodlines filmmakers Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein have agreed to a deal with Sony Pictures as part of their newly-launched company, Wonderlab, to create ‘wildly fun, commercial, character-driven, genre-bending films’. As part of this agreement, the pair will be tapped direct Sony’s Columbia Pictures adaptation of Metal Gear Solid.
New Overwatch Hero Trailer Introduces Us To Sierra, The Drone Wielding Newbie
Just a short while ago we were made aware of a new face coming to Overwatch, and today we get to put a name to the face. Sierra is a new operative assisting the Overwatch team, taking on a solo mission to intercept Talon and protect Watchpoint: Grand Mesa from both Emre and Freja. Things may not go according to plan, but the outcome is far from bad: Managing to bait two enemy ultimates AND live to tell the tale is no mean feat, even if Emre should realise it isn’t actually his hero trailer.
The Father Of The Beat ‘Em Up, Yoshihisa Kishimoto, Passes Away
Yoshihisa Kishimoto, the visionary Technōs developer who birthed the Renegade and River City series has passed away, leaving behind a profound legacy in the beat ’em up genre. Kishimoto began his career in the early 1980s at Data East, contributing to laserdisc titles like Cobra Command and Road Blaster. What he is better known for is his work at (sadly now-defunct) Technōs Japan, where he spearheaded the development of the iconic beat ’em up Double Dragon.
Hero 51 Teased For Overwatch’s 2026 Rebirth Grand Tour
For those paying attention, we have all seen that Overwatch has done some pretty massive things in 2026.
Another Cool Bluey Game Has Been Announced From An Aussie Developer
Bluey has got another game coming from our wonderful Aussie shores, with Gameloft Brisbane revealing Bluey’s Happy Snaps, a new photo-powered adventure game starring everyone’s beloved Heeler family. Coming to PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and PC ‘later in 2026’, the game looks like a magnificent medley of iconic show moments for you to explore and build an amazing scrapbook.
John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando Review
There is a simple joy in casually shooting the shit with your mates. This same joy can be made readily available in video games, where you’re often shooting shit with your mates, preferably in a co-operative fashion. Sadly, the recent boom of battle royale games has meant that a particular sheen of sweat is required for most group outings, because your mates are facing off against other people’s mates – there is no room for a casual atmosphere here.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Review
The Monster Hunter Stories franchise is a palette cleanser. A fun little sorbet to prepare my mouth for the flavour of blood and failure as I hit the next main Monster Hunter game head on. It nails that role as a brief, refreshing distraction from the arsehole-clenching core-loop of the series proper, where you deftly dodge jaws bristling with teeth the size of squeezy sauce bottles in the quest to make an exciting new hat.
Borderlands 4’s First Story DLC Looks Like A Total Nightmare (In A Good Way)
The first major expansion for Borderlands 4 is officially launching later this month, bringing a rather unsettling spookfest to the usual looter shooter shenanigans.
The Androids Of NieR: Automata Arrive In Overwatch
Overwatch is no stranger to android-type beings appearing in their games – but the latest crossover has brought a completely different flavour of robot-kind, with the greatest hits of the YoRHa crew now appearing as legendary skins for a hefty chunk of the healing cast: 5 Legendary Skins. 2 Iconic Worlds.
Hell Is Your Toolbox: A Devilish Deep Dive With The Developers Of The Diablo IV Warlock
Diablo IV’s newest expansion, Lord of Hatred, is diving deep into the timeless rivalry of light and darkness. The Paladin class has already returned to the game, serving as a bastion of divine retribution – but from the shadows there steps another, more calamitous addition to the roster. The Warlock is a heavy metal album cover come to life, a brutal convergence of shadow, flame and demonic subjugation.
The Fourth Sonic Movie Is Now Filming
If you are similarly shocked that we have received three Sonic the Hedgehog films in less than a decade, consider raising that alert as we approach the distinct possibility of getting a fourth one before it is through. That is because director Jeff Fowler has taken to social media to announce that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is now filming ahead of its 2027 release date: Ready 4 Action 🎬#SonicMovie4 now filming.
Amazon Debuts Official First Image Of Our Live-Action God of War Duo
Amazon took to social media to post a proper look at Ryan Hurst as Kratos and Callum Vinson as Atreus for the God of War series, showing an on-set pic of DAD and BOI doing the hunt from the beginning of the game: Father and Son. Behold your first look at Kratos and Atreus in the God of War series now in production for @primevideo. Their journey to the highest peak begins.
Pokémon Winds And Waves Look Like The Open-World Dream We’ve Been Waiting For
Pokémon Presents has come around again for the franchise’s 30th anniversary, dropping the huge news that many were expecting: Our first look at Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves: Straight up, the game looks absolutely stunning. A common pain point for more recent Pokémon titles has been the ongoing struggle with fidelity, but that looks to have been entirely sorted out for the first proper Switch 2 entries.
Mortal Kombat Sequel Sets May Release Date With A Brutal New Trailer
If you are anything like me (and lord knows that *I* am) you may well have been wondering where the heck that new Mortal Kombat film was at. Over 12 months ago, there was confirmation that filming was complete and an October 2025 release date was mentioned – but lo, the film was pushed to find a more suitable window.
Blizzard Has Revealed Overwatch Rush, A New Top-Down Hero Shooter For Mobile Devices
After many moons of people speculating that Blizzard was planning to wholesale port Overwatch to Mobile devices, the truth is a little more off centre. Overwatch Rush is instead a whole new game built from the ground up for mobile and set in the Overwatch universe. Details have been shared online explaining that Overwatch Rush is an entirely new game – not a port – being developed by a dedicated team at Blizzard, separate from Team 4 (who are the dedicated Overwatch team).
