Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the BJP and RSS over a "shuddhikaran" or purification ceremony allegedly conducted at the venue of a rally addressed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani earlier this month. Gandhi termed the incident a crime and demanded immediate action against those involved, saying Prime Minister Narendra Modi should ensure that an FIR is registered under provisions of the SC/ST Act.

A tourist filming the mountainous landscape in Gyirong County in China’s Xizang Autonomous Region may have accidentally captured the high-altitude glacier collapse that triggered the devastating mudslide at Gyirong Port along the Nepal-China border. Experts examining the footage believe the video could provide crucial evidence about the origin of the disaster, which struck on August 26 and caused widespread destruction on both sides of the border.

Delhi-NCR’s first air-conditioned skywalk has been opened to the public in Noida, offering commuters a covered and more convenient link between the Sector 51 Aqua Line and Sector 52 Blue Line metro stations. The Noida Authority opened the facility on Friday on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan without a formal inauguration. More than 45,000 passengers reportedly used the skywalk on its first day.
