National Weather Service confirms tornado touch down near Wright

Campbell County, Wyo. - The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-2 tornado touched down outside of Wright on Monday Afternoon. According to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, a supercell thunderstorm developed near the Bighorn Mountains and tracked southeast through Campbell County. The storm produced multiple severe hazards between Savageton and Wright. Significant structural damage was observed as a result of the tornado. Winds of 115 mph were observed.

Cheyenne, Wyo. - Strong to severe storms possible later today, which may bring very large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes. Portions of southeast Wyoming, the Nebraska Panhandle, and Northern Colorado are under an enhanced risk for severe weather, with a slight risk further west. Isolated to scattered showers and storms look to develop later this afternoon, with a 2-11 PM timeframe for our entire viewing area (mainly southeast Wyoming and Nebraska).

Several roads closed in Morrill County due to flooding

Morrill County, Neb. - Several area roads are closed or washed away due to flooding. According to the Morrill County Incident Command, flooding Monday night prompted several water rescues and evacuations across parts of Morrill County. Officials from the Incident Command say many residents chose to shelter in place. Several roadways remain flooded or damaged, with Nebraska State Highway L-62A closed from Moomaw's Corner north of Bayard to US 385 until further notice.
