Intern with the Hershey Chronicle in Hershey, Pa.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
For me, being curious, finding the story and telling it in a way that's equally intriguing to others.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email works best, so I can keep track of things. If you tweet me, I'll ask you to email me.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Anything I can access through my iPhone -- email, Twitter, texts, Facebook, Google, various apps, etc.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter. It's non-stop, but the way it's changed journalism and relationships is incredible.
Why did you become a journalist?
It felt natural. And when it's difficult, I still have an overwhelming sense of accomplishment when I finish a story I'm proud of.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I was a staff writer.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
My first print piece for Running Times. It was my first national print story.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Learn how to work well with PR reps.
When's the best time to pitch you?
I have a full-time gig at a PR agency, so you're most likely to get an answer at night when I have time to dedicate to my freelance work.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
On the couch with my husband drinking wine and watching shows on Hulu / Netflix.
