The UK government has defended its mandate requiring the addition of folic acid to most non-wholemeal wheat flour, responding to a parliamentary petition that has gathered over 26,000 signatures calling for the policy to be reversed.

Global feed consumption is forecast to reach approximately 1.45 billion metric tonnes in 2026, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 1.5 percent to reach 1.56 billion tonnes by 2031, according to the inaugural Kemiex Annual Feed Report. The report, which introduces an econometric feed modelling framework covering more than 130 countries, identifies poultry meat, eggs and dairy as the primary growth drivers, while swine demand remains subdued across key markets.
