Asim Hafeez’s Biography

My first experience was at the age of 13 when I joined a local photographer's shop and learned to process black n' white films in the dark room. It was my first taste that stuck like honey in a bee's nest. I was still in school and whatever time I had I knew I wanted to learn the trait of film-making, more and more.

As my confidence increased, I tried and later became associated with local advertising agencies covering local fashion, and indulging in commercial and product photography assignments. It was at a later stage that I stepped into the world of photojournalism.

With time and experience I managed to find assignments and work for local and international newspapers, magazines, NGO’s and stock agencies around the world.

My photography covers a diverse range of issues including international politics, human rights, socio political issues and environmental works. At the moment I am closely part of Bloomberg News, the top-rated news company in the world.

My work has been shown in a group exhibition ``Where Three Dreams Cross: 150 Years of Photography from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh'' and this was showcased at the Whitechapel Gallery London in 2010.
