Amazon cancels its upcoming Lord of the Rings MMO
A new MMO set in the Lord of the Rings universe is apparently no more, after it was cancelled by Amazon over the weekend. As reported by Bloomberg, the cancellation is apparently a result of a stumbling block in negotiations between Amazon Game Studios and Tencent Holdings after the latter acquired Leyou Technologies Ltd, parent company of developer Athlon Games. An Amazon spokesperson said to Bloomberg: "We have been unable to secure terms to proceed with this title at this time.

FIFA 18 Sales Cross 24 Million Units Worldwide
In case there was any doubt that FIFA is massive for EA, there won’t be after this announcement- EA has just revealed that FIFA 18 has sold 24 million units worldwide since its launch last September, which means that it was selling an average of 2 million units a month. There are games that don’t manage to hit those numbers over those lifetimes. Doubtless, the game got a lift thanks to the World Cup earlier this year, which presumably gave it a stronger tail than it otherwise would have had.
Battlefield 5 Beta Patch Adds Spectator Mode
EA and DICE have released a new update for the Battlefield 5 open beta, and it should address a few of the complaints raised by players who have access to it right now (it’s still in the early access phase). The squad joining issue, which prevented squads from joining a match together, has now been fixed- which means, obviously, that now you’ll be able to do exactly that. A Spectator Mode has also been added to the game, so now you can, well, spectate.
