Apple is the textbook definition of a second mover. Rather than inventing entirely new categories, the company routinely waits for a market to establish itself, identifies the pain points of early devices, and then enters with a heavily polished, highly integrated product that sets a new industry standard. What it did at its “Welcome Home” event in New York City was no different. The company made an array of announcements, all pertaining to its expansion in the smart home space.

Cavco Homes designs spacious park models engineered to maximize usable living space within legal limits while delivering full-sized home comfort. Today, we’re spotlighting one of its popular creations: the Heron tiny house. Measuring 58 feet long and 18 feet wide, the Heron tiny house is an extra-wide and spacious park model offering 682 square feet of living space. Adding the optional rear deck expands the total footprint to 855 square feet, but we will set that aside for now.

Over time, tiny houses on wheels have advanced significantly thanks to improved trailer engineering, lighter and stronger materials, smart space optimization, and enhanced off-grid systems. A classic example of this evolution is the Evergreen tiny house on wheels. Designed and manufactured by Cavco Homes, this tiny home measures 44 feet long (with porch) and 10 feet wide, falling into the park model category. Interestingly, tiny homes of this size typically require a quad-axle setup.
