Decreased homovanillic acid and 5‐hydroxyindoleacetic acid levels in the cerebrospinal fluid of patients with Dravet syndrome with parkinsonism

Two adult patients with Dravet syndrome (DS) developed parkinsonism at approximately 30 years of age. CSF tests in both patients revealed decreased levels of monoamine metabolites. Declined dopamine synthesis may cause parkinsonism in DS. Thus, parkinsonism may improve with levodopa administration.
